A modern approach to direct sourcing usually uses the employer\u2019s brand in job advertising to maximise the number of quality applicants but outsourcing the direct sourcing program your MSP provider and using specialised software for managing and curating&nbsp;talent pools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Direct Sourcing helps businesses attract, curate, and engage exclusive talent communities by activating your employee brand, supporting hiring needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Setting up a direct sourcing program involves several key steps to ensure its effective and aligned with your organisation&#8217;s needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where do you begin:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Define Your Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Set a clear foundation by identifying what you want to achieve and what makes more sense for your program. This can be a combination of the below or only one:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cost reduction: Reduce dependency on staffing agencies and paying high fees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Talent quality: Improve candidate quality and cultural alignment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speed: Decrease time-to-fill for key roles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brand control: Own the candidate experience and employer brand.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strategic workforce planning: Build long-term talent pipelines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Identify Target Roles<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not all roles are ideal for direct sourcing. Start with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>High-volume roles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recurring roles: Positions you hire for regularly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hard-to-fill or niche roles: Where agencies are charging a premium.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Analyse historical hiring data to identify which roles offer the biggest opportunity that match your objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Build Talent Pools<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Create and nurture communities of talent:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Internal resources:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Silver medallists (past applicants who were strong but not hired).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alumni networks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employee referrals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>External sources:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed CVs, GitHub (for tech), etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>University partnerships, industry associations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Talent marketing (events, content, newsletters).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To be able to organise your talent community use technology that aids you to organise and manage talent pipelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. Engagement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You are not just collecting names and resumes you need to build a community through engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Outreach: Personalised messages that reflect their experience and how it connects to your roles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engagement: Share content like behind-the-scenes culture videos, employee stories, blog posts, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nurture campaigns: Use email sequences to keep them warm over time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Candidates are more likely to engage with companies they recognise and trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5. Create a Process<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need a repeatable, scalable system:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sourcing: Who will source the internal and external candidates, is this your internal Talent Acquisition partner or do you outsource?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Screening: Set up the methods you will use to screen your pipeline and ensure readily available candidates \u2014e.g., phone screens, video interviews.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compliance: Especially if hiring contingent workers\u2014ensure all risk assessments are conducted and documented to aid in faster hiring.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6. Measure Success<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Define KPIs from start to of your program, the key items that we have identified are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Time-to-hire<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cost-per-hire<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Source of hire (how many came from your direct sourcing efforts)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conversion rates (e.g., outreach to interview)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Quality of hire<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidate NPS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Track progress regularly and share reports with stakeholders to build ongoing support<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>7.
